1 Is Impacto just a reporting tool?
No. Impacto covers the full project journey: project setup, output and outcomes selection, data collection tools, analysis and reporting. Yes, you absolutely get an automated report at the end, but you also get so much more. Please visit the 'Features'' page to find out more.
2 Do we need research or evaluation experience to use it?
No. The best thing about Impacto is that it was built for non-researchers from the start. Everything is written in plain English, with guidance built into the platform.
3 Will this work for small projects?
Yes. Absolutely!
Impacto works just as well for one-off small pilot projects as it does for multiple funded programmes depending on your subscription. Plans scale with your organisational needs. Impacto was actually developed with small charities in mind from the beginning, so we're confident that you'll find helpful and easy to navigate.
4 Can it handle large or complex projects?
Yes.
Impacto uses established outcomes frameworks, funder aligned language, and recognised evaluation methods. All data, proxies and information which feeds the back-end functionality of Impacto has been developed and refined by our own team of researchers to ensure accuracy and reliability. Reports are also editable so you can tailor them to each funder.
5 Do funders actually accept this type of reporting?
6 What if our data isn't perfect?
That's expected.
Impacto is designed for real delivery environments, not ideal conditions. It supports small samples, qualitative insight and learning, not just perfect numbers.
7 Does Impacto replace an external evaluator?
It can, depending on your needs.
Many organisations will use Impacto instead of paying for external evaluations. Others use it alongside evaluators to improve internal data and reduce costs. If you would like to explore other external evaluation services we provide please reach out to our team for more information.
8 Can we brand the reports?
Yes.
Reports are fully editable and can be branded with your logo, pictures, language and formatting. They will initially be downloadable with Impacto's logo on it. As a small profit-for-purpose company we'd love it if you kept our branding on there to help us spread the word. Additionally, we offer a bespoke graphic design service for a fraction of the price of a designer. You can find out more about this from the 'Additional Services' tab in the banner.
9 What kinds of projects does it support?
Impacto covers outcomes across 8 most common outcome category projects. Those are:
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Housing and homelessness
- Employment, education and economic participation
- Social connection and community engagement
- Physical health, sports and recreation
- Culture, arts and heritage
- Religious and faith-based projects
- Environment and green initiatives
10 Does it include Social Return on Investment (SROI)?
Yes, on the Full Works plan.
Where suitable proxies exist, Impacto calculates SROI automatically and explains how the figure was reached within you report.
11 How long does it take to set up?
Most organisations can set up their first project in under an hour, especially with the built-in guidance and templates.
12 What support do we get?
We've developed demo videos and are on hand for platform walk-thoughs. All you have to do is email daniel@socialresearchbuilders.com and we'll get the answer or guidance you're looking for. We also have add-ons including an 1 hour, or 30 minute consultation with a researcher if you want to discuss how to get the most out of your research beyond Impacto's capability. Those can be found in the 'Additional Services'' tab in the banner.'
13 What if we're not working with funders yet?
Impacto is still useful.
It helps you to understand your own impact, can help to improve delivery, and be funding-ready when opportunities arise.
14 Is our data secure?
We take data security very seriously. We know how valuable and sensitive it can be in charity settings. Your data is stored securely on a Cloud based environment built by Microsoft Azure and utilised by NopCommerce who provided parts of the Impacto platform. All effort has been made to ensure data security. The Impacto team will be able to access your data as admins for customer support functions, but it will never be shared or sold to any third parties.
15 Can multiple team members collaborate on one report?
Yes. Multiple people can access your dashboard if you have a generic organisational log in and are happy to share the email and password.
16 What if we don't have all our outcomes or impact data ready yet?
That's not a problem. Impacto will walk you through the process of collecting the information and give you the tools to do so. You can save where you left off, return later, and update your information at any time.
17 Can the platform help us understand the difference between outputs and outcomes?
Yes. We provide guidance and examples throughout the form to help you clearly identify outputs (what was delivered) and outcomes (what changed because of it). If further help is needed, we have the learning zone that can be accessed via your dashboard.
18 Can we upload supporting documents or data?
The dashboard has been designed to guide you through data input in an efficient way without the need to upload additional documents. If your report requires further data, you can download it in a word document and add in additional information at that stage.
19 Does Impacto store our previous reports for future use?
Yes, and can be accessed by clicking the previous reports tab.
20 Can we choose between qualitative and quantitative reporting styles?
Impacto will encourage you to input both types of data with an opportunity to include numbers and stats as well as case studies input.
21 What if my project hasn't finished?
That's fine too, we have two options to choose from when selecting your outcomes, Pre & Post, or One Off. If your project has not yet been completed, you will choose Pre & Post research tools and methods, this is encouraged more so, as your Impact is documented and shown over time with certainty. Simply save what you have, and come back when you have more information.
22 Will Funders accept 'end of project only' reports?
Yes. Funders are primarily interested in credible, consistent and well-explained impact, not methodology for its own sake.
